Singing or autosinging just is lacking the delivery that kanye usually brings. When he raps I usually listen and enjoy it. The lyrics aren't that clever and his rapping sensibilities don't to seem to translate over. Its a mediocre performance with a lot of quantization and treatment. There shouldn't be special treatment because he's a rapper. It clarifies my original thoughts on the album and how if it was a crazy singer that wrote crazy songs, kanye would be a notch down in comparison. Here's my post thanksgiving drunken opinion and please don't take it that seriously as I just enjoy talking and arguing about music. id go so far as to say that most can not play without the quantize and dont know more than basic triads.however, they are songmakers and that is their thing.ive heard plenty of musicians play some things that really showcase their skills, but the song still sucks.i hope you understand what im saying. yea, you know guys that can play the shit out of the bass/guitar/keyboard etc.the skills of most hip hop producers do not compare at all as far as live instruments. I do think thats a little strong, but i know your perspective.you have obviously been around some great musicians.and to compare them to the average hip hop producer is not really fair. Try watching the youtube video in this thread if you don't believe me. Kanye West's only limitation is that he SUCKS. I could do everything he does better, but I have limitations in a home studio which doesn't even deserve the credit of being called a studio. Im not sure if thats what you were going for but its really not listenable. I listened to the songs on your myspace and they are honestly very poor in both quality and performance. Also its probably a bad idea to make fun of someones musicianship when you yourself cant really play. I really think most people that dont like him are just jealous. He may have people helping him now but thats part of being a famous musician. I heard beat tapes he made back in the day and he can compose a song and write a chorus on his own. I listen to every type of music and I can honestly say that I think Kanye West is a talent. just because hes not ****ing making "music for airports" doesnt mean he isnt making good electronic music. Im not trying to say hes original im just saying hes doing his thing which is better than anyone else in mainstream music that I can think of off the top of my head.

Im not sure if thats what you were going for but its really not listenable.įeel free to take a listen to my stuff and let me know what you think. People aren't trying to find ways to hate him, they just don't like his music and its pathetic that he makes a living off of it when real musicians are starving.Īre you trying to tell me that he is original? his tunes make "generic" sound good.im not trying to say hes original im just saying hes doing his thing which is better than anyone else in mainstream music that I can think of off the top of my head. His ego is what makes him just as weak as every other crappy mainstream artist.Īuto tune is used to mask his boring and poor vocal performances which lack anything musical. The first thing I noticed were all these signs Kanye had put up on the walls. He doesn't make the beats himself, he tells someone what to do and they make it.

But once we got to the studio I started to gather that this wasn’t going to be my typical guest verse. I wasn’t sure what to expect of our reunion when me, Pucci and Spiff checked into our Hilton hotel on Waikiki Beach. We hadn’t actually been in a studio together since our cyphers at Studio Center back in 2002. I’d gotten him on “Maybach Music 2” but that was done remotely. It had been eight years since I last saw Kanye. Even President Obama called him a jackass. He’d interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech to say the award should have gone to Beyoncé. This time around Kanye had come to Hawaii after a situation at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. That retreat inspired his fourth album, 808s and Heartbreak. A year and a half earlier he’d found refuge there following the loss of his mother. It was his escape from his problems at home.
